Rob Gethen Smith, Director of Customer Engagement, Blackbaud

Rob is a digital transformation and business change specialist. He has helped a variety of organisations embrace digital and CRM technology to improve how they work and what they do. His role at Blackbaud is to help its customers make the most of their technology investments, as well as to advise on best practices, technology strategy and trends in the sector.

Prior to joining Blackbaud, Rob has worked as CIO, IT Director and Programme Director at Anthony Nolan, Southbank Centre, Tate and Macmillan to develop joined up business and technology strategies and lead change programmes. Before this, his first role in the non-profit sector was as Head of Membership Services and then Deputy Director of Fundraising at WWF-UK where he helped design and lead on an innovative and pioneering SRM programme.

An aeronautical engineer by background, both in the British Army and also the private sector, Rob takes a keen interest in how technology can enable organisations with a strong social purpose improve how they work and extend their reach; often when resources are limited. An MBA from London Business School underpins his technical approach with sound understanding of business strategy and commerce. Beyond this he has a passion for how digital technology is changing everything… fast!
